theswami- took 8th last night in a $30 party NL tourney, 1509 entrants. Went out wiht pocket 4s on the shortstack, guy called with A9 and flopped a 9. was chip leader with 300 left but didnt have a hand forever after that. would have liked a top 5 as that was another 2000 or so, but oh well. profited 870. my NL tourney game is getting pretty solid, I have done well my last few, and also had a final table in a limit tourney.

Don't forget the nightly Sit&Go tourneys for a free entry into the Friday tourney.

Hello Fishhead. Each night weekly during the 17 week contest, there is a Sit&Go tourney for 10 players. I only seen one table last night and then the sign-up for Tuesday began. The Cost is $6 and I am thinking the top 3 win some cash back, a free $27 entry into Fridays tourney being top prize. I enjoy the competition and practice if I have time. Also, you get some feel on how some of your competition plays for Fridays main event.

Nicely done Matt24...I'm sure your game is getting great.

On the other hand, I play so infrequently now due to other committments that it is tough to play good poker when I want action.

With that said, I played my first live casino tournament two weeks ago and came in 3rd. It was a $100+20 buy in with one $100 add-on at the Tropicana in AC, 155/156 participants. I played fairly well, had decent but not great cards, 1 horribly played hand that cost me only the big blind during level 3, had 2 memorable hands that helped me cash, and caught good position against weak players from whom I could steal late in the tourney with about 14 left (9 people got paid). Generally, I'm pleased with my performance except I played too few hands early in the tournament, I played weakly in 2 pots before the add-on (including one where I folded AKo preflop in the small blind to the big blind when he raised 3x the big blind), and I was not aggressive enough when it got down to about 5.

When it was down to the last 5-7 players, I noticed that due to my stack size I could probably coast into 2-4 but I should have thought about winning and got more aggressive. In fact the guy who came in second had to survive 3 all-in bets when he was a dog to get to the final three. He knocked out 4 and 5 by himself. It was a top heavy payout so I focused on getting to the top few places rather than get into coin flips near the bottom of the scale and end up with a payout that was significantly less than places 2-3. The winner got 10k but I was not even close since I caught cold cards for the last 4/5 places of the tournament and sputtered into 3rd.

Unfortunately, while the result was great, I didn't learn enough at the final table to really evaulate when to get aggressive and when to coast. I don't know whether my decision to play conservatively and move up was a good one or not since in my estimation I would have had to get incredibly lucky to win enough chips to challenge the eventual winner. Aggression is a good thing in poker so playing like a Sally was tough to do. I play a short stack like $hit (as evidenced in the TruePoker tourney when after Fish caught his 2 outer against me) and waste chips with a large stack so I have tons to learn.

I played in my first live casino tourney last week as well. Played in the $100 + $20 NL tourney at 4 queens, there was also a $100 rebuy, which most di dright away, so it was basically a 200 +20, but my friend and I only bought in once. There were 121 with 93 rebuys. I got 61st and was basically on the shortstack the entire time. Ron Rose was at my table, my friend took 9th, An Tran was at his table the whole time and won the thing.

I had the privledge of playing in the very first FOUR QUEENS CLASSIC, whatever that year was.

There were like 287 entrants or there abouts in the main event that payed the top 27 places....... finished like 29th or 30th.

"Point standings will be posted on the Rx and will be updated each week, so you can keep check of where you stand."

I understand that from Friday to Thursday constitutes a week. So, where can I find the standings? Want to know who placed above my 6th place.

I was moving last week, but I'm in tonight. The 3D effect takes a little getting used to, but I enjoyed a few hours on the site last night. Thanks to the folks at True Poker for a great idea!
